DEFORESTATION 

Deforestation means cutting down trees in a large number of the causes of deforestation are many. Bangladesh is the most densely populated country in the world it population is much more in proportion to its area. This huge number of population needs more shelter, agricultural lands, fuel, furniture, etc. For all this reason people cut trees. Morover there are some dishonest people who cut trees in our forests to make money. The effect's of deforestation are too many to describe. The removal of trees causes birds and other animal living on them to leave the place. All living animals and birds will not find any food or shelter to live in. They will be destroyed. There will be no rain and as a result of our agriculture will face a great crisis. Tree plantation programme should be extended throughout the country.

বন উজাড় মানেই প্রচুর পরিমাণে গাছ কাটা বন উজাড়ের কারণ অনেক। বাংলাদেশ বিশ্বের সবচেয়ে ঘনবসতিপূর্ণ দেশ যেটির আয়তনের অনুপাতে জনসংখ্যা অনেক বেশি। এই বিপুল সংখ্যক জনসংখ্যার আরও আশ্রয়, কৃষিজমি, জ্বালানি, আসবাবপত্র ইত্যাদি প্রয়োজন। এই সব কারণে মানুষ গাছ কাটে। তাছাড়া কিছু অসাধু লোক আছে যারা টাকা কামানোর জন্য আমাদের বনে গাছ কাটে। বন উজাড়ের প্রভাব বর্ণনা করার মতো অনেক বেশি। গাছ অপসারণের ফলে তাদের উপর বসবাসকারী পাখি এবং অন্যান্য প্রাণীরা স্থান ত্যাগ করে। সমস্ত জীবন্ত প্রাণী ও পাখি বসবাসের জন্য কোন খাদ্য বা আশ্রয় পাবে না, তারা ধ্বংস হয়ে যাবে। বৃষ্টি হবে না এবং এর ফলে আমাদের কৃষি বড় ধরনের সংকটের মুখে পড়বে। বৃক্ষরোপণ কর্মসূচি সারাদেশে সম্প্রসারিত করতে হবে।
